Can I have a childcare bubble in lockdown?

England entered a national lockdown for a second time this year on the 05/11/2020 to the 02/12/2020 to curb the rising number of Covid-19 infections around the country.

There is also a near-total ban on socialising with people outside of your household with a few exceptions – including to provide or receive CHILDCARE SUPPORT

A childcare bubble is where one household joins in with one other family to provide informal childcare, which means it is unpaid and unregistered, to a child or children aged 13 or under.

Childcare can be provided in either or both of the homes from the two households as well as outdoors, including private gardens.

The Government’s guidance states: “You can only use a childcare bubble for childcare – that is, where the child’s parent or regular carer is not present.
